Week 27

Hoping for a regular week of school. It seems like forever since we have had one. Late starts, snow days, and early releases have made for some interesting times in the classroom.

This week we will be reading "Busy Buzzy Bee." It is a non fiction story that will give us lots of information about bees. The phonics focus is long o made by o-e. The new vocabulary words are:
another
change
field
touch
twelve
wait
wild

In math, we will continue working on math facts. We are building speed by doing timed tests. Time and money are daily reviews. We should get to geometry by the end of the week.

Friday will be Monster Sandwich Day. Your child will not need a lunch that day.

Our First Grade Music Program will be Thursday, March 18 at 1:30 in the cafeteria. I hope to see all of you there.

Congratulations to Corbyn and Gavin. Both boys earned a watch for passing 100 AR tests. They seem to be reading all of the time. What a difference it has made in their fluency. It is always so exciting to watch the light bulb go off. Watching children become fluent readers is the highlight of my job!!!

Have a great week.

Week 27

I'm sorry to put a personal spin on this weeks post, but my mom died on Saturday. She has been in poor health and mind (Altzheimer's stinks) for quite a while. I moved her here from Kansas at the end of September. It was time for her to go but sometimes it is hard to get your head and your heart on the same page. I am struggling with that right now. I will not be in on at least Monday. We will see what Tuesday brings.

This week's story is a non fiction story called "Busy Buzzy Bee". The sound focus is long o made by o-e, The new vocabulary words are:
another
change
field
touch
twelve
wait
wild

Math this week will be focusing on fractions and the number grid. Time and money are a daily review.

Remember that this Friday is our first grade music program. It will be at 1:30 in the cafeteria. I hope you all can make it to see your cute little 'cowboy' kids'.

Sorry this is short but it is all I can do right now.
